CCS Wins First-Ever Elementary Golf Tournament
CCS participated in the first-ever Fort Lauderdale Elementary Golf Tournament on November 1, 2017. Joining CCS was St. Mark's Episcopal and Pine Crest School. All three schools entered five teams in the tournament, which featured a two-person best ball format. A total of 31 golfers took to the course at Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale.
Each grade had its own grade level winners, with CCS winning the first grade division with Caleb Gunter and Dylan Costa. Second grade had Ashley Balcom and Jack Melnicoff taking home second place. Caeleigh Richardson and Matthew Deeb took home first place in a tie breaker for the third grade title. Andrew Macdonald and Natasha Bodmer took home second place while representing CCS for the fourth grade division, and EJ Deeb and Mac Lobdell finished second place after losing in a tiebreaker for the fifth grade title.
With all of these outstanding grade level finishers, CCS won the overall team trophy with 22 points, while Pine Crest finished second with 21 points and St. Mark's finished third with 13 points. Also participating for CCS was Hudson Fee and Steven Wright, who finished in second place in the first grade division.
The inaugural event was such a success that plans are in the works for a Spring tournament. Thank you to all who participated!
