Each year, Christ Church School holds various events to recognize excellence in specific areas of study. They are:
Scripps National Spelling Bee
Second through fifth grade students participate at the local level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Program through The Miami Herald. After winning “spell-downs” in their classrooms, four students from each grade compete to represent CCS at the county-wide level.
National Geographic Bee
Through the National Geographic Society, fourth and fifth grade students participate in the National Geographic Bee. Ten finalists are determined after preliminary rounds in their classrooms. These students compete, and the winner qualifies for the next level of competition - determined by a written exam.
Christ Church School Bible Bee
At Christ Church School, Bible study is an integral component of our curriculum. Our elementary students are able to display their knowledge by participating in a Bible Bee. Students in first, second and third grade participate in teams, and fourth and fifth grade students compete individually to show their expertise in this area.
Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest
All elementary students take part in the Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest. First and second grade students give samples of their best manuscript print, and students in thrid through fifth grade demonstrate their proficiency in cursive writing. Christ Church School is proud to have had numerous state grade level winners over the years, as well as a national grade level winner.
