Financial Assistance Facts
How are awards determined? The Financial Assistance Committee uses the methodology developed by the School and Student Service for Financial Assistance (SSS) as the basis for its determination of what a family might reasonably be expected to contribute toward educational expenses. This formula considers the income, assets, liabilities, family size and expenses of both the student and the parents as well as how many children in the family are attending tuition-charging schools. Ultimately the formula seeks to determine a family’s discretionary income — the income over which a family has choices as to how it is spent. What happens if parents are divorced or separated? When considering an application for financial assistance the Financial Assistance Committee will consider the assets of both natural parents and stepparents before making an award decision. Custodial and non-custodial parents are required to complete the PFS form as well as submit copies of their most recent tax returns. The Committee considers both household's ability to contribute to tuition, not their willingness. It is the custodial parent’s responsibility to ensure that this procedure is completed by all parties by April 15. Will my child’s financial assistance award change from year-to-year?
Awards are made on a year-to-year basis. Families must reapply annually if they wish to be considered for an award each year. Who received financial assistance?
3 received 15% 6 received 61-70%
2 received 30-35% 3 received 71-80%
6 received 40-50% 10 received 81-90%
12 received 51-60% At the end of the year, this totaled $242,000
