The Presidential Award for Educational Excellence
Our schools are the primary resource for enabling America's children to meet the challenges they will surely face in the future. In order for them to be prepared for whatever lies ahead, we must always encourage students to try harder, reach higher and expand their imaginations.Recognition of their outstanding effort and achievement is vital for motivating students to be successful.
The President's Education Awards Program, sponsored by the U. S. Department of Education, in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, was developed to help principals recognize and honor those students who have achieved high academic goals by their hard work and dedication to learning. More specifically, students must earn a 90% grade point average in their 4th and 5th grade years and need to score in the 85th percentile or above in Reading or Math on their standardized achievement tests in both 4th and 5th grade.
Recipients of the President's Award for Educational Excellence receive a certificate signed by the President and the U.S. Secretary of Education. A congratulatory letter from the President is included with the awards. Thirteen CCS students received the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence during the 2009-2010 academic year.
